The new Common Conditions Service, gives you faster, easier access to professional healthcare for a range of everyday health concerns.
Thanks to recent changes in legislation and clinical guidelines, our pharmacists are now able to diagnose, treat, and, where appropriate, prescribe medication for a group of common health conditions – all without a GP visit.
Conditions Covered by the Common Conditions Service

- Shingles
- Impetigo
- Cold Sores
- Oral Thrush
- Vulvovaginal Thrush
- Uncomplicated Urinary Tract Infection
- Acute Infective Conjunctivitis
- Allergic Rhinitis and Allergic Conjunctivitis

How to access the Common Conditions Service
If you or a family member are experiencing symptoms associated with the eight common conditions, you can access the Common Conditions Service by
- Fill out the required information as set out in our website (this will speed up your consultation process and also highlight symptoms that require GP consultation or emergency referral) and then walk-in and continue your consultation with our pharmacist
- Walk-in and ask to speak to a pharmacist
During your visit the pharmacist will carry out a private consultation, assess your symptoms in line with HSE clinical protocols and where appropriate, prescribe the recommended prescription-only medicines. Your prescription can then dispensed by us or sent to another pharmacy for your convenience
If your symptoms don’t meet the criteria the pharmacist may need to refer you to another healthcare professional
Fee for Common Condition Service
After the consultation if the pharmacist establishes that treatment is required for your condition they will prescribe the correct medication.
- Pharmacist consultation fee: €35
- Medication: Additional charge applies
Please note if you hold a Medical Card or GP Visit Card consultations are not reimbursable by the HSE and are still charged at €35. However, any prescribed and dispensed medicines may be eligible for reimbursement under existing schemes.
